Leverstock Green
Ladies Footbal Club
How it all started
November 2001 saw a group of girls meet up at Hemel Hempstead Sports centre
to have a kick about with a football as a fun way to keep fit. People came
and went and some great times were had, and new friends made.
We decided to have a charity game in 2004 to raise funds for a local nurse
to travel to India and work with disadvantage children. We asked the staff
at the sports centre if they could field a team to play us and they did
just that. It was from that event that we ended up with a group of Ladies
that loved the game and wanted to do more than just have a kick around.
Leverstock Green FC were delighted to give us a home to play from. We spent
a year playing friendlies, and took the plunge to join ‘The Bedfordshire
and Hertfordshire County Girls’ and Women’s Football League’
for the 2006/2007 season.
We enjoyed our first season
in the league and did very well in both League Cup (semi finalists) and
County Cup (quarter finalists), we finished in forth place in the league
table.
We have started well this season and are currently top of the league!
